Senior Systems Designer

Scopely is looking for a Senior Systems Designer to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in Dublin or Barcelona on a hybrid or remote basis.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Systems Designer on STFC, you’ll be a key contributor in shaping the long-term economy, progression, and player systems that define how millions of players experience growth and mastery.

Own the design and balance of systems that support strategic player decisions across PvE, PvP, and co-op contentBuild and refine novel gameplay experiences focused on resource generation, spending, time gating, and power growthCreate systems that foster meaningful player agency and long-term investmentUse tools (Excel, Google Sheets) to model economies and progression pacingCollaborate with Experienced, driven and passionate Designers, Product Managers, Analysts, and Engineers to implement features which aim to advance the genreEvaluate performance using data, player feedback, and your own playtest experienceDesign for scale: plan for long-term content extensibility and system healthMentor junior designers and help strengthen systems design across the organisation

What We’re Looking For

A deep passion for systems design and progression modelling6+ years of experience designing systems or economies for live, F2P games (preferably MMO, 4X, or strategy genres)Strong ownership mindset – you can own a system from vision to launch to iterationA proven track record of delivering features that balance player fun, engagement, and monetisationComfort with KPI targets and using data to inform balance or tuning adjustmentsMastery of spreadsheets and confidence in balancing power curves, pacing, and resource flowExperience working cross-functionally and navigating live production environmentsA positive, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to game development

Experience mentoring or leading junior designersFamiliarity with SQL, scripting, or simulation toolsExposure to live ops systems, event design, or server lifecycle planningLove for Star Trek, sci-fi, or highly strategic social gamesPrevious work on alliance or co-op systems in large-scale games
